Self-help group "mental health"

Have you ever asked yourself how to deal with such a situation?

“My PhD project is part of a larger collaboration. For some (to me unknown) reason, another lab group in the collaboration hired a postdoc with the same project description as my PhD project. I get along well with the postdoc, but it feels like the collaboration has become a competition and it affects me and my work. How do I handle the situation and get back to a healthy collaborative environment?”

We are a group of MIM PhDs who meet regularly to discuss issues that are on our minds and together, we figure it out!

“Intervision” is a very powerful tool to discuss issues that arise in the PhD experience and get insights from “outsiders” who may be in similar situations. The method allows a person to think in new ways about a “case”. The case presenter presents their case, and a group of peers (aka the rest of the group) thoroughly analyses the situation, raises questions that the presenter may not have thought of, and ultimately provides feedback/advice, without the case presenter intervening.
If someone has an urgent case that can’t wait until the next official meet-up, feel free to let us know and we can organize a meeting sooner!
